gymnastics team posing with 2nd place section trophy

Three members of the St. Francis High School (SFHS) Gymnastics team earned a spot at the 2026 Class A Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Girls Gymnastics State Meet. The Class A individual and all-around competition is set for Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul.

The three student-athletes who qualified are seniors Ellie Dawson and Claire Reid and sophomore Madison Hurst. Reid is set to compete in the vault, which is the first discipline on the schedule. After the vault will be the uneven parallel bars, where Dawson and Hurst will compete. Finally, Reid will compete in her second event, the balance beam. Dawson is the only member of the team with state experiences, as she qualified for the uneven parallel bars as an eighth grader.

As a team, the Saints placed second at the Section 7A competition.
