The students in Caryl Bunkowske’s Foods for Life class at St. Francis High School conducted a SOUPer Bowl Challenge Friday to create some fun competition before Sunday’s big game. Students broke the huddle into 18 groups (six in each of the three sections) and put their best soup to the test for ‘celebrity’ referees from the building.
“This class is really focused on making wise food choices, healthy choices,” Bunkowske said. “I want my students to have a real world industry simulation, so they are expected to conduct good time management, execute a plan, have a detailed presentation, a complete explanation of the dish and professional service.”
The course is offered to all grades at the school and each group consists of about five students. Students were able to find their own recipes, some of which were family recipes, that were then approved by Bunkowske. View photos from one of the sections.
