Local author Erin Soderberg Downing visited Cedar Creek Elementary School (CCES) on Feb. 2 to help the students start I Love to Read Month in an exciting way. During her presentation she shared her three ‘ingredients’ to a good story: Brainstorm and Ideas; Characters; and Setting and Fun Research.
Soderberg Downing visited with all grade levels for about 45 minutes and shared how she was inspired in her writing, with most of the ideas coming from her family and personal experiences. Using her ingredients as a guide, she led students in engaging and fun ways to think about how they would write their own stories. She emphasised how details are important and how reading helps their writing. View photos from Soderberg Downing’s visit to CCES.
Prior to her visit students had a chance to order books and get them signed by Soderberg Downing.
