For the second consecutive year, the American Indian Education Department at St. Francis Area Schools is hosting a co-sponsored Wiítaya Wacipi/Maamawi Niimi’idiwin Together Powwow on Saturday, Feb. 28 at St. Francis High School. Admission is free and visitors can come and go as they're able.
The Grand Entry is scheduled for 1 p.m. Food trucks and vendors will be at the event. Dancing, drums and a free raffle will also be featured. View the Powwow Flyer.
“Our first powwow last year was so special,” said Haley Dagle, SFAS American Indian Education Coordinator. “We had been dreaming of hosting one here for a long time and I am hopeful that anyone interested will join our celebration this year. This is a great way to learn more about and celebrate Native cultures.”
The Master of Ceremony is Niigaanigwaneb Byron Ninham, Arena Director is George Morrow III, Host Drum is Red Tree and Invited Drums are War Thunder, Hoka-Hey, Little Earth Singers, and Red Lake Singers.
