St. Francis Area Schools announces meal ticket prices will be changing for the 2018-19 school year. Student meal ticket prices have not changed for six years. Over the past six years, Nutrition Services has seen increased food, labor and operating expenses as well as increased shared costs. The proposed lunch pricing creates a three-tier pricing system based on the volume of food and number of choices served to students. The proposed pricing is also comparable to surrounding districts and Minnesota school averages.
The School Board of St. Francis Area Schools will give final approval to school meal prices at the July 2018 annual meeting.
- Student pricing for lunch: $2.30 elementary school/$2.40 middle school/$2.50 high school
- Student pricing for breakfast: $1.45 elementary level/$1.55 secondary level
Free/reduced pricing ($0) continues to be set by the state for those that qualify for educational benefits. The school district will also be lowering the negative debt threshold for meal accounts being sent to collections, so issues of negative debt may be addressed sooner.
