Coronavirus Information

St. Francis Area Schools is committed to timely, ongoing communication regarding decisions that impact school in response to the quickly developing nature of Coronavirus, or COVID-19.

The District is following direction from the Governor’s office and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and expert guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As of March 18, per the Governor's emergency directive, all Minnesota schools are closed through Friday, March 27. School districts are to use this closure period to prepare for continuity of learning. No instruction is taking place. St. Francis Area Schools Distance Learning plans are to be ready by March 30, if the Governor directs schools to remain closed. Information will be updated as it is announced.

Decisions may be made quickly and St. Francis Area Schools is committed to informing families, staff and the community of the situation.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we pull together during this time of uncertainty.

School playgrounds, fields, tennis courts, track closed to the public

Given the difficulty in maintaining the sanitization of playground equipment and the volume/frequency of students gathering, all St. Francis Area Schools playgrounds, fields, tennis courts and track are closed to the public until further notice.

This closing comes following the executive order from Governor Walz to Stay At Home and to practice social distancing. While it may be tempting for students to use these areas on nice days, we ask families to refrain from doing so in order to reduce any spread of COVID-19.

Thank you for your cooperation.

COVID-19 FACTS

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. Symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath, and may appear 2-14 days after exposure. The virus is thought to spread between people in close contact (within 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It also may be possible to get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes. Visit the CDC COVID-19 website or download a CDC fact sheet to learn more.
