MCA Testing

MCA Testing Begins

Each year all Minnesota public school students in grades  3-8, 10 and 11 take the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA).  These assessments measure student achievement with regard to Minnesota Academic Standards and help to determine a school's progress toward meeting those Academic Standards.

This data is one tool used by both the state and the district to help determine program effectiveness as well as individual student strengths and needs for growth.

It is important students are in attendance during their designated assessment dates. Please avoid scheduling appointments or vacations/activities during the testing period. In addition, plenty of rest and a healthy breakfast help support a good testing experience.

This year's testing dates are as follows:

Grade 3                                   Grade 4

April 08-10 Reading                 April 03 - 05 Reading

April 15-16 Math                      April 25 - 26 Math

Grade 5
March 27-28 Science

April 11-12 Math

April 22--24 Reading

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Principal Scardigli at angela.scardigli@isd15.org or your child's teacher.

Creature Encounters Visits EBE
On Friday, March 15 our students will have visitors from Creature Encounters come and educate our students on unique animals that have been rescued. Our animal adventure will include some of the critters from the list below:

Patagonian Cavy              African Crested Porcupine
Chinchilla                          Red-tail Boa
3-Banded Armadillo          Red-Footed Tortoise
African Gray Parrot           Ferret
Hedgehog                         Egyptian Fruit Bat

Some students will be given a hands-on experience with select animals as part of this amazing presentation. This event will take place in our gymnasium. If you would prefer your child not attend, due to allergies or other reasons, the school will need to receive a written notice no later than Wednesday, March 13, 2019. You may email angela.scardigli@isd15.org or send a letter in your child's backpack.

Educational Benefits and Support

If you find yourself struggling to "make ends meet" consider completing an Educational Benefits form to see if you qualify for free or reduced meals at school. This form can be filled out at any time during the year as we understand circumstances can change at a moment's notice. This form can be found online at the district website under Forms and Publications or contact the school at 763.213.8900 and we can send a form home in your child's backpack.

Our school social worker, Tim O'Connell, may also be able to direct you to outside resources, if needed. Mr. O'Connell is not new to EBE, but his role has changed allowing him to help all students who are finding school difficult and/or struggling with social or emotional issues. If you find your student could benefit from his service, know this resource is available. He can be reached at tim.oconnell@isd15.org

Daylight Savings Time Begins

Don't forget to spring into Daylight Savings Time and move your clocks forward one hour on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 2:00 AM.

Box Top Contest Comes to an End

The Box Top contest has come to a close and our school raised $850.90. See the grid below for a breakdown of the totals. The class with the most box tops in each grade level will receive a popcorn and pajama party.

Keep turning in those box tops!  We will still collect them throughout the remainder of the school year. Continue to place them in a  resealable plastic bag labeled with your student's teacher's name.
